First ZBerry Release

September 7th, 2009

I have just made available the first public release (version 0.5.0) of the ZBerry interactive fiction application.  This release works pretty well, but is definitely rough around the edges.  I hope people get some amusement despite any bugs.  More details about installation and usage can be found on the ZBerry Documentation page.

Please take this for what it is worth… a silly little hobby project of mine that may or may not continue.  If you really like this, feel free to comment.  If you find bugs, source code patches are welcome, but complaints are not.  My hope is that is that it is worth more than its price (FREE) but given that I’m making nothing from this I hope that everyone can understand there is absolutely no support implied or available.

I haven’t tried it yet, but I am really happy that you have done this.

I loved the infocom games and had a lot of them through activision’s lost treasures CD.

I only 3/4 solved one, but still.

When I have the time, I’ll install the loader software and then zberry.
I might be able to find some bugs, and maybe even some criticisms (constructive!). But writing a patch? Not a java programmer.

I hope you continue to work on Zberry.

It looks like it won’t run on my 8330.

I installed it over the air. It paused for a moment when I clicked the zberry icon, the nothing.

Just in case, I even rebooted the bb. Same result.

My os version is 4.5.077 verizon, if that helps.

No errors at all? You might try looking in the event log to see if there are any errors that give an indication of what is going on. See http://www.thestandard.com/news/2008/04/07/5-essential-rim-blackberry-keyboard-tips-and-tricks for more information on accessing the event log.
